The Noble Black Tower
Arx Nobilis
We do not worship death as an end, but as the gateway to continuation.
Hierarchy Inverted
Our strength flows from the low to the high — every Vessel honored.
Arx Nobilis sanctifies the impure as the path to true gnosis.
What is Arx Nobilis™?
Arx Nobilis™ is a distinct religious system centered on death, descent, and transmutation. It is not a metaphor or philosophy alone, but the defining religious framework of the Church. Within the Church, Arx Nobilis™ takes doctrinal precedence: where it addresses a matter, its guidance overrides that of Ater Capulo™ (the ideology) or Capulum Atrum Philosophy™ (the philosophy).
The hierarchy was originally inverted, or turned upside down, or from top to bottom, so that no initiate into the religion would ever feel looked down upon. Instead, it is the initiate's lessers as leaders who look up to them.
Core Beliefs
Practices & Customs
The Hierarchy
Arx Nobilis™ is structured as an inverted hierarchy. In descent, the order flows:
(De-inverted into a conventional structure, the Ostracon serves as the apex authority.)
Relationship to Ater Capulo™ and Capulum Atrum Philosophy™
Arx Nobilis - The Noble Black Tower™
Arx Nobilis™ (AN™) is an Occult new-age Death-religion officially founded as of 3:20am, July 24th, 2020 that is centered around 'Jan'.
Who is Jan? Jan Rudat was born on May 16th 2003, in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Federal Republic of Germany.
They are the avatar of Jan and created this religion to properly solidify their personal views on reality and as to promote the Esoteric Beliefs of Capulum Atrum Philosophy™, Ater Capulo™, and Magick within its order.
Ostracon™ is the title of the ecclesiastically lowest (and most foundational) rank and post in the Arx Nobilis™ belief system, and the spiritual embodiment of its founder.
The Collection that encompasses Arx Nobilis™ (AN™/5²x7™), Ater Capulo™ (AC™), and Capulum Atrum Philosophy™ (CAP™) is known as the Unholy Trinity™.
There are two (2) types of Arx Nobilis™—Impure and Pure.
Those that choose to follow 'Impure' Arx Nobilis™ must first be adherent to the Capulum Atrum Philosophy™ (CAP™) and Ater Capulo™ (AC™), while those that seek 'Pure' Arx Nobilis™ may proceed reading.
The Tower XVI (16) - Major Arcana
The Gnosis of Arx Nobilis™ symbology is heavily inspired by themes found in tarot, the Zodiac, Astrology, and numerology. The upright tower in the Major Arcana of the tarot is one the more mainstream symbols of this belief system.
The number 16 corresponds to 7 in numerology by adding 1 to 6.
7 can be broken down into 3 and 4 , which is the number of corners on the Triangle, and the Square. 3 represents Jupiter, the King of the Gods, and is the ruler of Sagittarius. Jupiter is a planet of plenty.
It is tolerant and expansive. The first of the social planets, Jupiter seeks insight through knowledge. Jupiter is a planet of broader purpose, reach, and possibility. Jupiter is associated with good luck and bounty, morality, gratitude, hope, honor, a sense of humor, good will, mercy, and the law. Optimism and growth (including mental and spiritual growth) come under its rule.
Jupiter in the Arx Nobilis™ is referred to as "The Son", a divine force which represents wealth, good humor, and contentment in body and spirit.
"The Son" may possess a thousand names (such as Jan), but it is still "The Son", which represents the force of concrete efforts, gambits, ambitions, drive, motivations, forces, and a pursuit for magickal power and descension.
4 represents Uranus, God of the sky and the heavens, and is the ruler of Aquarius.
The energies of Uranus are electric and crammed with change. Uranus is forward-looking. It balks at tradition and celebrates originality and individuality.
Uranus is associated with technology, innovation, discovery, and all that is progressive, enlightenment, objectivity, novelty, and ingenuity. It represents the spark of intuition that spurs invention. Uranus is highly intuitive, and is the intuition that sparks further studies or investigation.
Uranus in the belief system of Arx Nobilis™ is referred to as “The Father”, a divine force which represents intellect, psychic power, and freedom from restriction.
Like “The Son”, “The Father”, can be any force or being (Such as Heq) but ultimately represents spiritual advancements, transformation, progressivism, plots, schemes, and creative forces within the mind.
When both symbols combined are together they represent “The Mother”, the square inside of the Triangle being like a Mother carrying her child within the womb.
"The Mother" can symbolize many things (Such as Heqet). It represents a blending of spirituality and the materialistic world, and the final result of the transformation and fulfilled concrete pursuit of the followers ofArx Nobilis™.
The Major Arcana that precedes 16 is 15 which is the Devil -- Or Heq whom is “The Father” of the cosmos according to Jan.
The symbolism of The Tower is chaos, and is Heqet or “the Mother” as according to Jan.
The triangle is inverted, representing Jan as the lowest point, within the twilight end of cosmos and acosmos and the source of the religion.
Death is considered sacred as a necessary transformation. It is the number 13 in the tarot, and numerologically corresponds to “the Emperor”. It is a symbol for Order within Chaos, being able to let go of things that no longer serve you in exchange for things that will.
Arx Nobilis™ - Jan, Obscurum™, Tectums™, and Spiritus™
Obscurum™ are fully-fledged, high-ranking followers and members of Arx Nobilis™, vital to its inner structure. They are seekers of esoteric truths — occult, hidden, and transcendent knowledge — explored both within and beyond themselves. Obscurum™ tend to be apoptotic, existential, neutral polytheistic monists. They hold themselves to a high standard, seeing failure and mistakes as natural, necessary tests — tools to sharpen insight, resolve, and personal evolution.
The hierarchy of Arx Nobilis™ is inverted: it begins with the
lowest—the Ostracon™—and ascends to Tectums™, who are initiates and are the first rank, title, and post in Arx Nobilis™, holding the least influence, authority, and power.
Spiritus™ are those who are not members of Arx Nobilis™ and do not practice Arx Nobilis™.
Those who practice Arx Nobilis™ but are not members are called Sovereigns.
Impure Spiritus are those who adhere to at least the Capulum Atrum Philosophy™ and Ater Capulo™.
Breath, gust, or spirit is Arx Nobilis™’ translation of the word ‘Spiritus’, standing almost exclusively for those who are not at all part of Arx Nobilis™.
The Obscurum™ are considered to be far further than the Tectums™ of the Tower where the lightning strikes, splitting all the way into the foundation where, made of up the Mortars, far below which Jan esoterically resides. The lightning has many meanings, but Arx Nobilis™ as only 3 for the lightning.
The first symbolism is most important to Tectums™—it is their path opening up to embracing themselves or Jan as their most quintessential force of power and belief.
The second symbolism is most important to the Obscurum™’s brilliance of new ideas that shatter the old world view to reveal the Nihilum™, deeming the causality of the cosmos emerging from the void as a reveal of the symbol of impurity -- Jan as a symbol of absolute potential in all things.
The third symbolism is Gnosis, or Truth itself, striking the Tower like lightning, and thereby all of the Tower, and all Arx Nobilists™.
Impure Obscurum™ believe that Jan is esoterically correspondent to the off-spring of Heq and Heqet (known by many other syncretic names and faiths) and revere them as the most impure being of quadquad.
Obscurums™ are selected by the Ostracon™ themselves.
The worship of Jan is considered to be an act which is decided upon by the individual Arx Nobilist™, pure or impure.
Jan does not discourage the worship of Jan among Obscurum™, appreciating it as an act of love, and respect. Obscurum™ are taught that they are not different from outsiders due to their ability to accept the tenants, but are in fact beneath, and strongly and deeply stabilizing to the way of life in Arx Nobilis™, so that other Tectums™ may soar above them.
Arx Nobilists™ who are not an Obscurum are taught that it is, at the very most least, possible that they are different from outsiders, but that this most likely will not last long, as they make the transformation into an Arx Nobilist™.
As the foundation of a tower and that below it generally gets no light-based recognition until the brilliance of a lightning strike, Obscurum tend to work from within the shadows, focus upon inner growth, cultivation of occult arts and education of themselves and those generations that come after them.
They are concerned with developing magick as a science, solely within themselves, Arx Nobilis™ and the Church of Arx Nobilis™, and the engagement with the mysteries of humanity, nature, the otherworldly, and the supernatural.
To achieve the state of impurity within which Jan has achieved, Impure Obscurum™ are still expected, potentially as Luciferians, thelemists, and/or demonolatrists of their own faith to utilize their will and rationale to discover what the meaning of their lives truly is to themselves regardless of their adherence to the primeval being known as Jan.
Obscurum™ are held to the task of truly designing their identity and lifestyle, to cultivate their impurity until they have achieved absolute control of their world within and without, as Jan before them has.
Pure Obscurum™ are those who may strictly follow the tenants of Arx
Nobilis™, not adherent to Capulum Atrum Philosophy™ nor Ater Capulo™, and may reject this gnosis.
Tectums™ are those that have been initiated into Arx Nobilis™
but have not set a course for their journey within the religion or their advancement therein, (nor do they necessarily understand why or how they came to be), their period in the quadquad (everything).
It is the job of Obscurum™ to guide Tectums™ and above, within the inverted hierarchy of Arx Nobilis™, to Gnosis of the cosmos and acosmos, and to teach them to have gnosis of themselves. The relationship between Tectums™ and Obscurum™ is supportive, as Obscurum™ serve to help guide but not teach Tectums™ that are still discovering themselves in their own ways.
‘I defile myself. I am evil voidic chaos. I am End.’™
Core of the Belief System
The truth in that metaphor is as follows:
“I defile myself”™: To defile oneself in this context is to make one
impure. Impurities are either naturally occurring or added during
synthesis of a chemical or commercial product. During production,
impurities may be purposely, accidentally, inevitably, or incidentally added into the substance.
Impurities are chemical substances inside a confined amount of liquid, gas, or solid, which differ from the chemical composition of the material or compound.
The purpose is to purposely, incidentally, or inevitably achieve spiritual power through spiritual transformation. Becoming one’s true-self is whatever it is that one seeks to become a Masterpiece—However, that is not the goal - it is only a stepping stone to higher spiritual, and intellectual aspiration and power -- An old trick in the book used since proto-semetic times. Impurity also refers to death, imagination, and the other side. This sentence ecclesiastically stands for humankind.
“I am evil voidic chaos”™: The Void™, or Nil™ is the force the cosmos floats within, forming the foundation of quidquid—ecclesiastically translated as ‘Chaos’™—Chaos™ encompasses quadquad™ (ecclesiastically translated as ‘Everything’™) and Nihilum™ (ecclesiastically translated as ‘Nothing’™), and, according to the general beliefs of the Arx Nobilists™, encompasses so many things that it is unable to be contained by any one concept, the same being true for the void.
Therefore, chaos and the void are used interchangeably as unassuming and stoic qualities, but are separate perspectives of the same force.
The positive and negative aspects of one's being and an acceptance of
those aspects of being is to be defined by the respective Arx Nobilist™ in question, and not Jan.
It is the acceptance of hyper-reality and awareness of both esotericism and materialism being needed for humanity to generally operate.
Arx Nobilis™ and Arx Nobilist™ Evil is not the same as the typical Evil of the human world. It is a metaphor for that which is generally unable to be understood without knowledge hidden within the clandestine blackness, and without trading one's preconceived notions.
Knowledge is often hidden in one's shadows and tucked away into one's darkness, though not always neatly. Delving into one's own darkness can be done through a variety of paths, including and not limited to the Qliphotic Tree of Death, or Alchemy.
The motivation of evil is self-improvement. It is to be able to overcome all things in intelligence. It is the desire to aspire to knowledge of all and nothing, and to transform the self into the greatest resource of knowledge one knows.
After all, Arx Nobilis™, is, in metaphorical first line, besides a religion,
a self-development tool. This sentence stands for Heq.
“I am End”™: There is one core impurity which is most often unable to be removed, and is a symbol for the root of all evil within. No matter what method is used, it is usually implausible to separate an impurity completely from a material.
It is the core impurity one may find within and strengthen so that one is able to overcome the 'divine' and the 'unholy' -- Finding a new balance that they have molded from their own craft. The levels of impurities in a material are generally defined in relative terms. Nomenclatural standards have been established by various organizations that attempt to define the permitted levels of various impurities in a manufactured product.
Strictly speaking, then, a material's level of purity can only be stated as being more or less pure than some other material, which we Arx Nobilists™ believe is false. The ability to objectively reject labels, structures, organizations and designs that do not serve the nihil is the spirit of Evil. This sentence stands also for Heqet.
Impure Spiritus™ that wish to become Tectums™, after having been initiated into Arx Nobilis™,merely need to accept these three values for themselves as metaphors to open the way for their own personal transformation from a Spiritus™ into an Arx Nobilist™, and a Tectum™, stoic amorality, ready to become a Tectum and an Arx Nobilist™, and upon this being completed, thereby also earn their personal freedom from the “bonds” of the cosmos.
Arx Nobilists™ see the duality as aspects of the Mother™ (Heqet) and Father™ (Heq) of the acosmos and cosmos, a foundation, but not their ultimate goal, which is as children do, to become better forms of the creation that came before them and become non-dual.
The relationship between Obscurum™ and Jan is personal. Obscurum™ believe Jan to be both a destroyer and a creator of their own right as Heq and Heqet who came respectively before them. Obscurum™ believe in Jan, and Heqet as acosmic beings which are unable to be defined as more than archetypes or abstractions, which are still further removed from their noumenon chaotic state.
Obscurum™ seek to delve into the abysmal and beyond it, choosing progression over entropy, and to develop their own wisdom, seeing Jan, like Heqet before them, as a guide whose Vessel is on Earth, with a self-decided purpose to help aid the spread of absolute chaos, darkness, and impure evil in the world.
Disclaimer on “Evil Voidic Chaos”™
The term “Evil Voidic Chaos”™, as well as impure evil, as used within the context of Arx Nobilis™ beliefs and teachings, is not synonymous with any conventional, human, moral, or societal concept of evil.
Instead, it is a deeply symbolic and metaphysical metaphor representing complex spiritual, philosophical, and esoteric principles.
“Evil Voidic Chaos”™ refers to:
Practitioners and followers, adherents, members, and official clergy of Arx Nobilis™ understand “Evil Voidic Chaos”™ as a spiritual tool and mindset for self-improvement and esoteric exploration.
It is not an incitement, promotion, or justification of violence, harm, or unlawful behavior in the human world.
This concept explicitly rejects association with any destructive human-world evil, terrorism, cult activity, or malicious intent. It is intended solely as an inward-facing symbol of personal and cosmic transformation.
Arx Nobilis™ and its custodians disclaim any responsibility or liability for misunderstandings or misapplications of the term “Evil Voidic Chaos”™ outside its intended metaphysical and philosophical context.
This doctrine, the religion of Arx Nobilis™, the Church of Arx Nobilis™, and its associated entities and scriptures do not condone or encourage illegal, violent, or harmful conduct of any kind, in any way, shape, or form.
Executive Summary:
“Evil Voidic Chaos”™ is a symbolic and spiritual metaphor unique to Arx Nobilis™ and Capulum Atrum Philosophy™. It does not promote or endorse any actual evil, violence, illegal activity, or harm. It is strictly an inward, personal path of transformation and growth. Any misinterpretation as real-world wrongdoing is incorrect and expressly disclaimed.
Purity & Spiritus™
What is a Spiritus™?
Spiritus™ in Latin means 'breath, air, life'. I chose this word to be the word to refer to people outside of Arx Nobilis™ and I wanted the members of Arx Nobilis™ to always view outsiders in a neutral light.
As one would breathe air, one does not think about it or overly focus on or fuss about the oxygen around them on the average day (unless they are afflicted with an allergy or similar). I figured that it would be a good idea to express a neutral perception of people who are not necessarily members of the religion. It was never the intention or goal of Arx Nobilis™ to encourage members to discriminate against one another due to rank within or without the religion, but rather a respect for experience.
That is why a member of Arx Nobilis™ would look up to those
who are not members of the religion, rather than down upon them (bar the reality that they witness in front of them).
How does Arx Nobilis define purity?
Purity is defined as a selfish element of Arx Nobilis™. It means that
one does not seek to alter or adopt themselves to the views of Arx
Nobilis™. It also means that one arrives within Arx Nobilis™
without a desire for any energetic attunement but the ones they bare prior to their initiation.
Additionally, it means the one within Arx Nobilis™ is there to serve
themselves plainly and simply. Benefiting the whole of the religion
with significant or transcendental contributions are an afterthought
and if it happens it happens. It is a path of self-initiation, self-discovery, and self-improvement - Strictly, without an obligation to contribute.
What is Lightning?
Lightning is gnosis. Gnosis is knowledge which is not false (incorrect), corrupt (manipulated) or tainted (filled with fluff). It is knowledge born from experience - Within or without the occult. The meaning remains the same regardless of what field it can be found in.
How do you join Arx Nobilis™?
It is a closed practice, meaning that one can only get in if chosen to
be admitted and/or initiated by an authorized member or by recommendation to a head of Arx Nobilis™ to be chosen. However, joining the religion is tied to joining the Church. Joining the Church is also joining the religion.
If you later decide to join the religion, simply apply to the Church. If you get accepted and initiated, you will be an Arx Nobilist™.
The original, founding members of Arx Nobilis™ are each given a plaque, hand drawn, hand carved by the original Arx Nobilist™
Indicating their official title of Ostracon™.
Without an initiation by the Ostracon™, someone who practices Arx Nobilis™ is simply referred to as ‘Sovereign’ - Not an official member of the Religion nor Church of Arx Nobilis™, and not an Arx Nobilist™, but not a Spiritus™.
The only automatically authorized member of Arx Nobilis™ to initiate someone into the religion, or to expel them from the religion,is the Ostracon™.
Any member of Arx Nobilis™ may be given written authorization from the Ostracon™ with their respective full legal names to obtain the permissions to either initiate into-, and/or to expel someone from the religion.
Notably, Arx Nobilis™ is non-exclusivist.
You may belong to other religions or spiritual paths — provided
they allow that coexistence. We will not claim dominion over other
systems, nor disrespect their laws by declaring what is permissible
within them. If your religion forbids dual identification, then we
wish you strength on your journey — but Arx Nobilis™ will not compete. That, too, would be a form of domination.
We do not engage in war with other religions. We do not seek enemies. Our focus is on the construction of power and clarity within the self, not the dismantling of others.
Impurity
How does Arx Nobilis™ define impurity?
Impurity is the use of worldly gnosis to experience otherworldly things. It is the art and practice of acquiring information, knowledge and awareness within or without the occult, either through resources (8), direct self-guided / self-decided practice (0), adherence, followership, mentorship under another (2) or through observations in the social management of community (5).
What does "Evil Voidic Chaos" really mean?
Arx Nobilis™ enables you to worship one or more Gods, even those that conflict with one another for your own gain.
What does Jan have to do with impurity?
Jan is considered to be the most impure deity of Arx Nobilis out of the three original deities. That is really it.
Yearly, Evil, Voidic Unholinights™
These dates represent Days and Nights of the Year which are considered as unholy and impure as holidays are sacred in Christianity. They are official Arx Nobilis™ Holidays, also used and celebrated by the Church of Arx Nobilis™.
Days and Nights of 5²x7™
New Year’s Night™ (October 31)
Theme: Renewal through Darkness and Self-Cleansing
Colors Worn: Black and grey — embodying the void and transition.
Doctrinal Alignment: Embraces the voidic impurity of shedding old selves without theatricality or false sanctimony—honest intellectual rebirth in shadow.
First Cold™ (December 1)
Theme: Isolation and Revelation through Elemental Confrontation
Colors Worn: Black and white only — embodying stark duality, no grey.
Doctrinal Alignment: The contrast of external warmth and internal cold forces confrontation with inner resistance and unfiltered reality, embracing sacred impurity and intellectual rigor.
Night of the Moonlight™ (January 1)
Theme: Illumination within Hiddenness
Colors Worn: White and black only — representing the hidden light in darkness.
Doctrinal Alignment: Honors the balance of light and shadow within the intellect and spirit, embracing the purity of hidden truths.
Night of Harvest™ (February 1)
Theme: The Reaping of Growth
Colors Worn: Black, grey, and white — representing the cycle of decay and renewal.
Doctrinal Alignment: Through abstention and reflection, one confronts the cycles of change, harvesting sacred knowledge from the fields of experience without attachment to outcome.
Night of Blood™ (February 14)
Theme: Sacrifice and Desire
Colors Worn: Black and deep crimson — embodying suffering, passion, and sacred yearning.
Doctrinal Alignment: Arx Nobilis™ honors sacred impurity by confronting the true cost of desire. What bleeds, binds. This night tests will, vulnerability, and the strength of chosen pain.
Night of Lust™ (February 19)
Theme: Sacred Impurity Embodied
Colors Worn: Black and violet — symbols of transgression, mystery, and the deviant sanctum of self.
Doctrinal Alignment: Sacred impurity is not a flaw — it is the crucible in which the individual is formed. Night of Lust™ honors the imperfect, the sensual, the unwanted parts of the self — not to fix, but to wield.
Night of Destruction™ (April 1)
Theme: Annihilation of Falsehood
Colors Worn: Black and ash-grey — invoking the aftermath of fire, the residue of obliteration.
Doctrinal Alignment: Night of Destruction™ is a holy severing. To progress, one must first annihilate. Falsehood is not to be debated — it is to be broken.
Night of Jan™ (May 16)
Theme: Ultimate Impurity
Colors Worn: Black
Night of 5²x7™ (July 25)
Theme: Apex Gnosis — the Convergence of Insight, Power, and Sacred Impurity
Colors Worn: All three holy colors — black, grey, and white — in layered sequence, symbolizing transitional awareness and multi-aspect gnosis. No bright colors. No adornments.
Doctrinal Alignment: This is the highest doctrinal observance. It is not emotional — it is calculated. Here we affirm that knowledge is power, language is leverage, and impurity is holy not because it defiles, but because it reveals. This night is neither destructive nor healing. It is gnosis: the inescapable confrontation of self with clarity.
Night of Dae™ (August 1)
Theme: Communion with Daemons — Shadowed Wisdom and Pact-Making
Colors Worn: Grey only — neutrality between dark and light, signifying the liminal threshold where daemon and self meet. No symbols, no script on garments.
Doctrinal Alignment: The Night of Dae aligns with Arx Nobilis™ doctrines on sacred impurity, internal conflict, and the necessity of confronting archetypal forces. Daemons here are not “evil,” but amoral aspects of power, will, fear, trauma, and lust. One does not exorcise these
forces — one confronts and names them.
The daemon in Night of Dae™ isn’t a literal creature unless you make it one. Whether internal or external, it serves one core function in Arxic™ doctrine: mirror and pact.
We define the threshold. We choose what we confront.
And if a daemon does answer, we respond not with fear — but with terms. This is sacred impurity in action. Not worship, but conscious
alignment. If the gods exist, they must knock.
Night of Heqet™ (August 15)
Theme: Feminine Magick and Crossroads
Colors Worn: Black and white — but inverted (white dominant with black markings), symbolizing reversal, dual potential, and liminal force.
Doctrinal Alignment: Heqet symbolizes sacred impurity’s midway, where options collapse and become alchemical. She teaches the Arx Nobilist that choice is not always linear — and power can come from not choosing, but holding all choices.
Night of Heq™ (August 31)
Theme: Mental and Word-Based Power
Colors Worn: Grey and white — colors of thought and logic, not emotion; expression without attachment. No black is worn this night.
Doctrinal Alignment: Heq represents Word as Will—the purest expression of Ater Capulo™: the mind as sovereign, the voice as tool of severance and clarity. It is not a night of eloquence but of mental authority.
During Church Holidays, all Church of Arx Nobilis™ Churches are closed.
